Federation Announces New Grant Opportunities
As a result of a new initiative arising out of recent Community Forums, the Jewish Federation of the North Shore (JFNS) announces a new grant opportunity available to all North Shore synagogues and Jewish agencies for innovative programming with meaningful Jewish impact. A grant pool totaling $40,000 has been allocated for the 2010-11 initiative.
Beginning September 1, grant applications will be available on this website for the first grant cycle with a November 1 deadline. The second deadline will be May 1, 2011. All grant applications must be a collaborative effort among at least two North Shore Jewish 501-C3 organizations. Programs must focus on one the following four strategic priorities identified through the Community Forums:
1. Engaging the Next Generation in Jewish Life
2. Inspiring Adult Jewish Education
3. Caring for the Most Vulnerable
4. Connecting with Jewish Culture
Applications will be reviewed by a committee of community members chaired by Cory Schauer. Grant questions can be directed to Kimberlee Schumacher at kimberleeschumacher@yahoo.com.
Ikkarim: Core Values
Parenting Through a Jewish Lens
Parenting is awe-inspiring. Beyond the practical issues of how to get your child to eat right and get enough sleep, parenting invokes in all of us deeper questions about meaning and values. The course, Ikkarim: Core Values takes parents on an inspirational journey through Jewish sources of wisdom. Enjoy stimulating, interactive discussions with an outstanding instructor in a welcoming environment. Learn how Judaism's sage perceptions about the human condition can enrich your relationships with your family and wider community.
